i THE MI DIFFERENCE

i THE MI DIFFERENCE

Capstone Course: Live Music Workshop
The LMEP program prepares students for their capstone course: Live Music Workshop. In this course, students participate in a weekly live music show, consisting of hands-on experience with equipment and roles related to audio, video, lighting, and LED projection combined with cameras as well as various music acts. With a heavy focus on technical skills, these mock shows teach teamwork and communication in a live performance environment and situation.
IMMERSIVE CURRICULUM
Live Music Event Production students will be taught by industry experienced instructors in our working studios and stages, where they’ll gain practical experience on professional-level consoles and recording equipment. Some highlights include:

  • Learn to operate modern analog and digital audio systems using industry-standard live production techniques and equipment for sound reinforcement & live recording/playback, lighting, and live video recording/playback.
  • Understand Tour management from legal and contractual matters, needs of the performer as well as the needs of the venue, positions, and roles of the touring party, advancing a show or event
Hollywood Location

Our campus is located in the middle of the entertainment industry, including the worlds of music, film, television and beyond. Students will have access to the finest live music venues, along with opportunities and possibilities to visit, intern and work at the best studios and sought after music labels in the world.

i CAREER OPTIONS

i CAREER OPTIONS

“What can I do with a degree in Live Music Event Production?”

Following in the non-traditional spirit of MI, graduates with a certificate in Live Music Event Production have found careers in diverse settings across the music industry. We strive to prepare graduates for mastery in any opportunities that arise in live music, like:

> FRONT HOUSE ENGINEER

The Front of House Engineer or FOH Engineer is mostly responsible for mixing the sound for the audience to enjoy at a concert. The FOH engineer controls the levels of all the individual instruments that are mic’d up on the stage, from the lead singer to each band member and their instruments.

> MONITOR ENGINEER

While the FOH engineer mixes the sound from the stage to the PA so the audience can hear, the monitor engineer is the person that mixes for the individual performers to hear what they’re playing!

> SHOW OR EVENT PRODUCER JOBS

Concert producers handle the backstage work that goes on before and during a concert to ensure the show goes off smoothly and efficiently.

> STAGE MANAGER

Stage managers are the main liaisons between the creative and technical departments in a production, whether it’s a theater or concert production.

> LIGHTING & VIDEO TECHNICIAN JOBS

As an AV technician, you will be responsible for organizing and installing media equipment such as projectors, microphones, video monitors, and sound boards.

> TOURING MANAGER

A Touring Manager is responsible for making sure that a band or production runs smoothly while out on a tour. This person must be highly organized and is responsible for everything from travel plans, working with venue managers, handling media appearances, and so much more!
