In the current music industry, electronic music production is becoming an increasingly popular, mainstream genre. The EMP program will focus almost completely on production of electronic music, with advanced curricular requirements in areas like musicianship and keyboard skills, vocal production concepts, track building, sound design & synthesis, beat-making, plugin processing, and mixing and mastering.

EMP Production Advising
The EMP program offers unlimited weekly one-on-one sessions with a variety of expert instructors, to help you make each of the elements of your project the best they can be. The EMP Final Project is designed not just to demonstrate your mastery of the courses in the program—but to give you something to take out into the world and begin your career.
FULLY IMMERSIVE CURRICULUM
Online EMP students will receive guidance by our Ableton Certified Trainers in producing and remixing music in Ableton Live Suite and the Push 2 controller. They will also have access to private DJ lessons, along with other DJing classes including Serato and Set Building.
Hollywood Location
Our campus is located in the middle of the entertainment industry, including the worlds of music, film, television and beyond. Students will have access to the finest live music venues, along with opportunities and possibilities to visit, intern and work at the best studios and sought after music labels in the world.

EMP Production Advising
Fully Immersive Curriculum
- Guidance by our Ableton Certified Trainers in producing and remixing music in Ableton Live Suite and the Push 2 controller.

Private DJ lessons, and other DJing classes including Serato and Set Building.
- Define your unique sonic identity with Sound Design, using a variety of plugins from Ableton, Native Instruments Komplete, and even with virtual modular synthesis.
- Learn to record, produce, and process vocals using software from Waves, Universal Audio and more.

“What can I do with a degree in Electronic Music Production?”
Following in the non-traditional spirit of MI, graduates with a degree in electronic music have found careers in diverse settings across the music industry. We strive to prepare graduates for mastery in any opportunities that arise in electronic music, like:
> MUSIC PRODUCER
A music producer writes, arranges and produces music for other musicians (including vocalists, bands, etc)
> SOUND DESIGNER
A sound designer is a technical/creative artist who composes, edits, and controls audio in various interactive media. Some examples of sound design work include designing synth patches, sample packs, ambiance and foley sounds.
> RECORDING ARTIST & PERFORMER
As a recording artist and performer, you produce and release music you composed.
> REMIX ARTIST
Remix artists find their expertise in altering and remixing pre-existing audio into a new original piece of music. Remixes can be created of original songs to better fit different formats (radio, club, genre).
> AUDIO ENGINEERING
An audio engineer (also known as a sound engineer or recording engineer) produces a recording or a live performance. They specialize in the technical aspects of recording live audio, such as mixing, post-production and mastering.

Artist & Career Services (ACS) is an extensive resource center designed to offer students and alumni active professional & personal development to succeed in today’s competitive entertainment industry.
ACS provides help in career development like resume building, workshops, industry mentors, discounted gear, internships and more.
INTERNSHIPS
The ACS Internship Program provides MI students with real-world experience in the music industry through internships in music-related companies. Students in the Music Business Program are required to complete an internship, while Common Course and Audio Engineering majors are able to sign up to be interviewed and considered for the elective program.

Musicians Institute offers the MI Development Scholarship to newly enrolling students in order to encourage the educational development of musicians and music industry professionals.

Musicians Institute has created the International Musicians Merit Scholarship specifically to assist advanced musicians from outside the United States with their educational development.
