Bishop Briggs is back again and sharing her brand new music following the 2018 release of her debut album, Church of Scars. The MI Vocal alum first reached success with her chart-topping hit, “River,” and her newest single, “Champion” is right in the vein of showing off her powerful voice.

Briggs told Consequence of Sound that her new song was written as a message to herself,

“‘Champion’ is a song that I wrote when my self-esteem was at an all-time low…Writing this song helped me look at the question — what if I could just be myself? What if there was a world where my vulnerability was what made me powerful? What if there was a day I could proudly, without hesitation, look in the mirror and say, ‘I AM A CHAMPION,’ purely because I’m choosing to be myself? ‘Champion’ is about accepting yourself today, as you are.”

She also released an accompanying video, showing her on a fearless mission. The video ends with “To be continued…” so this is probably just the beginning of a brand new phase for Briggs.
