There are plenty of music festivals in Los Angeles and all over the country, where music lovers can unite, network, relax and watch some of their favorite bands and artists play in one place. Sure, that’s all fun and games, but what if you’re an independent musician yourself and looking for likeminded individuals who want to work, but also play?
There are new options popping up every day on social media, YouTube channels, and more, but there’s only one industry event of its kind, catered solely to independent artists, and that’s the DIY Musician Conference. So, what is the DIY Musicians Conference?
Taking place in Austin, Texas from August 16 through August 18, the conference is a put on by CD Baby and offers a packed weekend of showcases, networking and panels, which include many topics from booking more gigs, targeting fans online, building your brand and identity and much, much more!
Musicians Institute will be on hand at the conference, hosting three special panels which will include music critique, songwriting, and how to amplify your indie career. The critique sessions allow artists to show their songs off to our expert panelists, who include MI instructors from our Independent Artist Program and program chairs, like Lacey Harris.
Once you get your fill of panels, there are plenty of opportunities to sign up for open mic and showcase sessions, so you can do what you do best!
The DIY Musician Conference just made a fresh move to Austin, and we know that that is another great benefit to aspiring artists. Considered the live music capital of the world, Austin is home to many open mics and venues that are just teeming with new and undiscovered talent, so this is just the kind of place to perform and network.
We hope to see you there at our panels, or one our MI campus in the future, once you decide to take your career to the next level!
