MI SUCCESS STORY: RICK JESCHKE DELIZ
Rick Deliz is a guitarist, musical director, band member, session and touring side musician with over 30 years of experience in the music industry. After spending much of his teenage years in Puerto Rico playing music and going to rock concerts, he decided he wanted to study music and devote his life to it. Rick said of enrolling at Musicians Institute,
When I found out about M.I., I decided to take my music education to the next level, study the one year program at G.I.T. and benefit from a strong music scene that Los Angeles has to offer.
He graduated from the Guitar Performance program in September 1993 and quickly went on to play with major names in the Latin Pop world and touring Mexico, Europe, USA, the Caribbean, Canada, Central & South America.
Rick is currently fronting his self-described “Psy-Spy-Instro-Surf” band Secret Agent, where he plays Electric, Acoustic and Lap Steel guitars. Secret Agent recently released their debut EP on Afonico Music/Sony Distribution and can be found on a slew of tour dates. Rick is also the musical Director/guitarist for the joint tour of Latin Pop artists Magneto & Mercurio with fellow M.I. alumni Estefania Chavez on keyboards. Prior to this tour, Rick relocated to Mexico City and was the musical director and guitarist for Latin Pop artists Belinda, Christian Castro, Magneto, Aneeka, and toured many years with Ha*Ash, while gigging with many more artists.
On how MI helped his career, Rick said,
The most important thing I learned at M.I. was to absorb different styles and genres of music, which helped me become a better and more versatile player. This helped my career by being able to land important side musician gigs with diverse artists and live my dream of playing music for a living.
