MI SUCCESS STORY: RALPH ALEXANDER
Ralph Alexander always knew he wanted to pursue music as a drummer, so when he heard of MI’s Full Ride competition Competition in the fall of 2009, he had to apply. Ralph’s talent led him to the finals, where he performed at MI’s Concert Hall, and eventually won first place. Just two weeks later, he was enrolled full time at MI and graduated in 2011, where he quickly began performing in his own bands. Along with teaching private lessons and working as a session drummer, Ralph eventually formed the experimental rock band, The Dose, with Indio Downey.
During that time, he developed a unique setup to perform both bass and drums, which was featured on Modern Drummer Magazine. He also plays with Nick Valensi of The Strokes in his solo project, CRX. After releasing their album in the Fall of 2016, the band went on a North American tour and performed on Jimmy Kimmel, James Corden, MTV’s Wonderland and Good Morning America. Currently, The Dose is finishing up their LP for 2018 release while he performs with CRX at festivals around the country.
