MI SUCCESS STORY: MARK MACKAY

Mark Mackay grew up just south of San Francisco and found a passion for music very early on in his life, when his parents enrolled him in classical piano lessons at the age of nine. As he grew as a musician and pianist, he found a new love in country music and transitioned to playing the guitar. Determined to dedicate “400%” to his music, Mark moved to LA to attend MI. When he began in 2014, Mark says he didn’t know a soul in the business or the city, but his connections at MI made the next successful steps of his career possible.

After graduating, he recorded two EPs with a new band and was subsequently added to the list of country’s Top 100 National Live Acts by Music Connection Magazine. His continued touring led him to land a spot singing the National Anthem at AT&T Park for the Giants, his hometown team, in front of 43,000 people. This past summer, Mark shared a lineup with country music heavyweights like Keith Urban, Chris Stapleton, and Luke Bryan during the Country Crossings Music Festival and in November, Mark will play the Driftwood Festival with many other big names. Suffice to say, Mark has his eyes set on the big stage and he is well on his way.
