MI SUCCESS STORY: LUIS KALIL
Born in Bage, Brazil, Luis Kalil relocated to Los Angeles to attend MI and expand his skills and networks in the world of guitar. The 17 year old rock and metal guitarist first came to L.A. as a 15-year-old for MI’s Summer Shot program, and he later decided to return to the school once he finished high school in Brazil. His career began as a young teen when his talent was recognized by ESP Guitars, EMG Pickups, and Laney Amplification. When he was 15, Luis released his first album, “Insight,” which would get the young guitarist wide acclaim.
Luis has also been the first Brazilian guitarist to play at EMGtv studios, where he joined the ranks of guitar greats like Zakk Wylde, Jeff Loomis, Tony MacAlpine and more. His performances in 2015 included a show at NAMM for ASP Guitars and various guitar clinics around Brazil and the U.S. In 2016, Luis released his second album, Sunset Daredevil, featuring his first single, “If,” which was premiered on Revolver Magazine.
At only 17, Luis is recording a new EP with producer Adair Daufembach, and has a bright future future ahead of him in the metal world and beyond.
