MI SUCCESS STORY: LUCAS TAFFO

Lucas Taffo was born in São Paulo, Brazil and born to a family of musicians. His father was Wander Taffo, a very well-known guitarist in Brazil so he spent much of his early days at concerts, rehearsals and recording sessions, which shaped much of his future. After the death of his father, Lucas decided that he wanted to take music seriously. He said,

“A lot of my musician friends would talk about MI and how it’d be a dream come true to go to school there. After graduating high-school, the opportunity came up and a few months later I moved to Hollywood.”

Lucas enrolled in the Independent Artist Program, where he excelled and was eventually awarded the Best Project Award in the Summer 2015 quarter. He graduated with an Associate Degree in Guitar Performance with an IAP emphasis and said of his studies at MI,

“My 18 months at MI were an incredible experience. The most valuable lesson I learned was that being a professional musician is more than just knowing how to play your instrument. Learning things like the music business, how to do well at auditions, and the fact that your look matters were fundamental to do the work I have done here in the US.“

Post graduation, one of Lucas’ biggest breaks was as guitarist for Mosaic MSC, contemporary Christian music band that took him on a nationwide arena tour with Chris Tomlin in the Spring of 2017. He’s also worked with Australian Idol runner-up Hayley Warner, YouTube singer/songwriter Alex G, and is playing with singer DAVIE at Lollapalooza in the summer of 2018.
