MI SUCCESS STORY: LIAT FREIDBERG
Liat Freidberg is a multi-talented, energetic, and passionate Israeli rapper/ singer/ songwriter/producer. Liat, also known as LiHot, has an eclectic background in music ranging from Ska,Trap, Hip-Hop, Middle Eastern, Reggae to EDM. Liat was raised in the streets of Tel-Aviv in war stricken Israel, and breaking all kinds of stereotypes, with her personal style and attitude described by others as a mix of a yogi and a punk.
LiHot started to write songs and perform when she was 11 years old. Her career in music took a jump when she attended an art high school, where she became lead singer of a Ska band called, “Cuban B.” The band was successful in the international underground with the help of MySpace and touring.
But it was during LiHot’s mandatory time served in the army where she discovered her passion and talent for rapping and producing. In 2008, she relocated from Tel Aviv to Hollywood where she continued her music education at Musicians Institute, earning a Certificate in Vocal Performance. After graduating and trying to adjust to a new country, LiHot teamed up with the producer Dumb Bunny and created the EDM duo, Dirty Egoz. Dirty Egoz released an EP and went on the 2013 Warped Tour.
Between 2014 and 2017, LiHot toured with the iconic rapper Kool Keith as his opening solo act, rocking the stages of Burgerama 3, Back to Basics at the Observatory OC and the Belasco Theater in Downtown L.A. She also released her single “Fly” feat. Kool Keith through RBC Records and Final Level Music (Ice T’s new label.)
In 2017, she released music videos for her singles, “Show You How” and “Done 2 Me” which got a lot of support from local radio stations, and performed at Echo Park Rising and the famous Coachella’s gifting house, where she performed in front of key industry people such as Beyonce’s tour manager Alan Floyd.
Musicians Institute was Liat’s gate into Hollywood and the music industry. At MI, she got the education she needed to get to the next step through building a strong vocal technique, practicing quick song learning for LPWs, and connecting with other extremely talented musicians who attended the school. MI was the first music school Liat attended where “she felt at home.”
Lihot has been working on her self produced album scheduled for release in 2019.
