MI SUCCESS STORY: KEITH HETRICK
Keith Hetrick was born and raised in Orange County, always surrounded by music and musicians. During his Freshman year of high school, he decided to take music seriously and pursue it as a possible future career. After studying classical, jazz and orchestral music, one of Keith’s first experiences as a musician was through the prestigious non-profit organization, Sounds of America. During this time, Keith had the title of Musical Ambassador for the U.S., which took him on a two month European tour, setting him on a musical path he couldn’t ignore. When college time came, Keith decided to enroll at MI in the Certificate in Keyboard Performance program where he learned valuable skills that he still uses for his success today.
Now based out of Nashville, Keith has worked with some of the biggest artists & acts in the world, such as Charlie Wilson, Boyz II Men, Snoop Dogg, Shaggy, T.I., Pitbull, Fifth Harmony, Cher Lloyd, The Jacksons (also known as The Jackson 5), Teddy Riley, Sophia Grace, and many others. In 2015, he received a Best R&B Album Grammy nomination for his writing and production on Charlie Wilson’s Forever Charlie album. In 2017, he garnered a Billboard #1 song with Charlie Wilson & T.I.’s “I’m Blessed,” all while also getting Top 5 records in the Greek, Korean, Japanese, and Chinese markets.
Only getting started in his burgeoning career, Keith said of his MI education,
I think the most important things I took away from my time at MI were the relationships I made with other creatives; across all walks of life, and across all parts of the world. I’m extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to meet people who would end up being very important and influential in my life.
