MI SUCCESS STORY: JORDAN SMITH
Jordan Smith is originally from Pismo Beach, California, and grew up playing guitar and surrounded by music. He always had a big passion for the music industry, but found the call of going to school in Los Angeles too difficult to resist. Jordan enrolled at MI immediately following his high school graduation, saying he didn’t want to waste anymore time in not being in Los Angeles, a city where everything happens in.
He graduated from the Music Business program in 2015 and after a short stint back home to play music with his band, Jordan moved back to L.A. for a touring assistant internship with LVRN Records for Junia Abaidoo (one of the label’s co-founders) at the end of 2017. Life then took him to work under Moe Shalizi (Manager for Marshmello, Alesso, Jauz & more) as an Executive Assistant for a year starting in 2018, first at Red Light Management and then followed the team out once The Shalizi Group was started at the beginning of 2019.
Taking advantage of his MI connections, Jordan left The Shalizi Group in 2019 to work alongside Hunter Scott, a former marketing professor at MI and CEO of TREND: PR, Branding & Social Media in Los Angeles and started his own management company, S+ MGMT. Working at TREND through the pandemic while also growing his management roster, Jordan recently ventured out on his own to run S+ MGMT full time and work with artists such as: AKTHESAVIOR, Elyahu, The Holdup, MiTCH, Michael Garmany, Ruby Red & sagun. Him & his artist sagun also founded a lo-fi label called Arden Records alongside Andrew Kwan from Romantic Music Group at the end of 2021.
