MI SUCCESS STORY: JAMES PULLI
James Pulli graduated from Musicians Institute in 1985, back when the bass program was known as the Bass institute of Technology. After finishing his bass training at MI, James joined international recording and touring group Impellitteri in 1993, led by guitarist Chris Impellitteri. Since joining, James has recorded 13 studio albums with the band, gone on numerous tours in Japan, as well as festivals in the U.S., Sweden, Spain, Mexico, Nicaragua and Germany. He counts a show in Barcelona, playing for over 20,000 fans as one of his biggest and proudest accomplishments.
His experience with Impellitteri has given him the confidence to record for other artists and it was at MI that he “learned to love the studio as much (if not more) than a live stage.” Other artists he’s performed, played, and recorded with are members of AC/DC, Alcatraz, Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath, Yngwie Malmsteen, DIO, Rainbow, Slayer, and many more.
James is also in Bonfire, a tribute band to early AC/DC. They were featured on AXs TV’s “World’s Best Tribute Bands” and we were nominated for “Best Tribute Band” by LA Music.
He now offers his skills as a studio bassist through the website, Soundbetter.com. There, he is able to record bass (upright, fretted and fretless electric, and synth bass) for anyone in the world connected to the internet.
