Jay Simper has been a professional bass player for 17 years, with the past ten years spent in the Los Angeles area. Jay graduated with Honors from Musicians Institute in 1992 and has been a member of staff since 1996. He is also the author of the beginning bass guitar instructional book, First Bass and its sequel Second Bass.

Professionally, he is currently recording and performing as a freelance bassist with various artists in a variety of styles.

A member of the MI staff since 1996, Jay teaches Open Counseling, Private Lessons, and LPW.
