MI SUCCESS STORY: NICK DIIORIO
Upon graduating from Musicians Institute in 2013 with an AA in Bass and emphasis on Independent Artist Program, Nick Diiorio auditioned for rap/rock group Crazy Town, known for their #1 single “Butterfly.” Nick joined the band just in time for their 2014 international comeback tour, which included performances at major festivals like Germany’s Rock Am Ring & the UK’s Download Festival. Meanwhile, Nick also became the face of MI’s Bass Program through a series of 2015 ads featured throughout the LA Metro system.
Nick Diiorio currently plays bass for pop artist Jordan McGraw, opening for the Jonas Brothers and Bebe Rexha on the Happiness Begins Tour. The four-month run features stops at iconic venues around the U.S., Canada and Mexico, including multiple nights at Madison Square Garden, the Hollywood Bowl, and The Forum.
Prior to performing with Jordan McGraw, Nick played bass for YouTube sensation Tessa Violet on her Spring 2019 U.S. tour, supporting indie pop group COIN. Tessa’s band featured Jess Bowen (The Summer Set) on drums, with whom Nick had previously performed at a 2018 New Year’s Eve show put together by Brian Logan Dales (formerly of The Summer Set). Guest appearances that evening were made by Ashton Irwin (5 Seconds of Summer), Jack Bakarat (All Time Low), and Mike Naran (Panic! At the Disco).
In December 2018, Nick served as bassist and music director for Russian singer/actor Alex Sparrow (formerly Universal Music Russia). The band completed a three-week tour, supporting Hawaiian reggae singer-songwriter Anuhea at various clubs and theaters throughout the west coast.
When Nick isn’t on the road, he regularly performs with a large roster of Los Angeles-based acts, including Dezmond (Diamond) Meeks, Alexa Villa, Stereo Jane, Derek Day, Trapdoor Social, Chazzy, and The Hard Way. Nick plays bass in Good Guys in Black, a punk/thrash/metal group fronted by professional BMX Star Rick Thorne. He also performs with premier corporate bands through VIP Entertainment and American Events Network, as well as with award-winning ‘80s tribute act The Flux Capacitors. Nick was the primary bass player for Six Flags Magic Mountain’s Full Throttle Band in 2017. Serving as Crazytown’s touring bassist in 2016, Nick shared the stage with major rock groups including Alien Ant Farm, Saving Abel, Trapt, and Salvia.
Nick believes that MI’s rigorous Live Performance Workshops & Rhythm Section Workshops prepared him for his experiences on stage.
